A logistics company reached out to Ollion seeking help combining information across their key data sources to gain efficient and holistic reporting.

The data vault solution implemented by Ollion provided a scalable, organized, and audited platform that standardized and centralized the company’s various data sources.

By implementing a data vault model to integrate all of the source systems, the logistics company was able to easily access all of their delivery and financial KPIs through reporting.
The Challenge
Our client’s audit data requests were delayed due to disparate data with no connections. They needed to search contract data and supporting documents across multiple source applications, but the current applications did not provide this functionality. Therefore, all the searching and combining was manual and very labor-intensive. They looked to Ollion to provide streamlined data discovery for contract data and collateral documents
The Solution
Ollion worked with the client to understand their manual process and the variety of data sources, and our team recommended integrating the data from multiple disparate data sources into a single data warehouse. We developed a data hub and data warehouse, leveraging our ETL framework that automates the creation of SSIS ETL packages and dramatically decreases development time with improved quality.
Ollion also developed a data discovery application to slice, dice, and search contract data across applications. The front-end search capabilities were enabled by QlikView associative search.
The Outcome
Our solution allowed the client to generate automated reports based on a central data hub that worked with the new ERP system. Some of the benefits included:
- Design is scalable to allow additional company divisions to update their ERP version and maintain global reporting
- Corporate office can now take advantage of the centralized data warehouse to generate reports that are in sync with local business intelligence data
- Gained efficiencies in report performance through new ETL framework
